Our present Pastor and his wife, Graeme and Edith Goninon, were appointed to Coastlands in February 2007. Prior to that, they had led George Town Baptist Church for 7 years.

Graeme’s history:

Born in Burnie, Graeme was part of the church right from the start, with the church planted in his parent’s garage (see history).

Graeme moved with his parents to Ulverstone where he had a life-changing encounter with God at a crusade at Ulverstone Baptist in 1963. Edith also responded to God’s call on her life during the crusade and, shortly afterwards, they were both baptized at the same service.

Graeme moved with his parents back to Burnie in 1968, and Graeme and Edith were married later that year, and their work at Montello Baptist Church (now Coastlands) began. They were both involved immediately in youth leadership and Sunday school teaching. Over the next few years, Graeme also held leadership positions, such as deacon, treasurer, secretary, and lay preacher. In fact, from the age of 22, Graeme was on the preaching rosters for 6 churches.

Graeme had been working at Tioxide (a pigment manufacturer) for 8 years in accounting, and then 20 years in computing, when he accepted a call from the church as Administrator in 1993. He commenced theological studies by distance education in 1996, filling a pastoral role from late 1997.

Graeme and Edith accepted a call to George Town Baptist from 2000, and Graeme completed his Advanced Diploma in Theological Studies (Pastoral Ministry) in 2001, and was ordained in April 2002.

In late 2006, Graeme and Edith accepted a call back "home" to Coastlands.

Graeme has a heart for:

                    - Worship and Spiritual Renewal

                    - Community Involvement / Outreach

and sees this being worked out as the church pursues its mandate, which according to Jackie Pullinger is to:
